Seminars, Workshops and Literary Discussions
Asas ’50 has always been active in organizing seminars, workshops, literary discussion and lectures in Singapore. These ranged from the mere participation of local enthusiasts right up to the involvement of regional activists of the Malay literature. These events include; Malay Language Congress, Regional Malay Literati Conference (Pertemuan Sasterawan Nusantara), Southern Dialogue (Dialog Selatan), Malay Literary Dialogue (Dialog Sastera), Malay Writers’ Dialogue (Dialog Penulis), Malay Literary Prize (Hadiah Sastera), The Teaching and Learning of the Malay Language Seminar (Seminar Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Bahasa), The Singapore Writers’ Conference (Pertemuan Penulis Singapura), The Temasik Poetry Conference (Pertemuan Puisi Temasik) and Perkampungan Sastera.
Asas ’50 frequently organized workshops and literary discussion sessions by inviting academicians, intellectuals and literary activists to grace and lead these sessions. Recently, Asas ’50 and NLB have collaborated in organizing a Creative Writing Workshop, discussing the techniques and methods of writing poems and short stories.
