Singapore Young Novelists Forum 2012

Angkatan Sasterawan ’50 (Asas ’50) and the National Library Board (NLB) will be organising ‘Singapore Young Novelist Forum’ to celebrate Singapore young writers who have successfully published their first Malay novels following the inaugural ASAS ’50 – NAC International Residency Programme (2010-2011) supported by Darul Andalus Pte Ltd.

The programme is a discussion on the processes and experiences in writing and producing novels among young writers. This session will be very beneficial for first time-writer enthusiasts and readers at large who can benefit from understanding the route map to producing a novel and the art of creative writing.

Singapore Young Novelists Forum will be held this Saturday, 9 June, from 2 to 4pm, at The Pod, Level 16, National Library.

Three young novelists will be sharing their experiences after successfully publishing their first novel under the mentorship of Professor Emeritus Dr. Budi Darma as part of our in-house writing programme, known as the International Residency Programme (IRP).

These young writers are:
1. Shaheda Salim
2. Shahirah Samsudin
3. Syahirah Nabilah

This forum promises to be insightful and shed light on how aspiring writers can get their voices heard.

There will also be a sharing session by Shahirah Samsudin dan Shaheda Salim regarding their experiences in representing Singapore in a writing workshop, MASTERA 2011, in Bogor, Indonesia. They had the privilege to exchange ideas and be in the presence of many other prolific writers from Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.

This event is open to public and entry is free.  As a token of our appreciation each participant will receive 3 complimentary novels written by the speakers for this forum, which are:

1. Keluhan Sepi oleh Shaheda Salim
2. Obsesi & Ommoni oleh Shahirah Samsudin
3. Rintihan Kalbu oleh Syahirah Nabilah
